Chelsea have completed the signing of Samuel Eto’o from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala
Chelsea have completed the signing of Samuel Eto’o from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala.
Eto’o, 32, joins the Blues on a one-year deal after spending two seasons at the Dagestan-based club.
“I am very happy to be here but also anxious because I want to get playing as soon as possible,” the Cameroon striker said.
“‘It wasn’t a hard decision. I saw the qualities Chelsea have, and I was very happy with Jose Mourinho before, so when the opportunity came, I was very happy to take it.”
The signing of the Cameroon international, who won the Champions League with Mourinho while atInter Milan, all-but ends Chelsea’s interest in Wayne Rooney, who the West London club have been courting all summer.
Eto’o, who has also played for Barcelona, Real Madrid and Mallorca, surprisingly joined big-spending Anzhi in 2011 on a reported wage of £167,000 per week.
But he has fallen victim to the club’s cost-cutting measures, which also saw Brazil playmaker Willian move to Stamford Bridge this week.
The move is unsurprising due to Mourinho’s previous success with the player, and the relationship between the respective clubs’ Russian owners.
Eto’o scored 25 goals in 53 Russian Premier League matches for Anzhi and is best known for his spell at Barca, where he scored more than 100 Liga goals and won three Liga titles and two Champions Leagues

Argentina's Messi won the inaugural award followed by Spaniard Andres Iniesta, his Barcelona team mate, last year. Messi and Real Madrid's Portugal forward Ronaldo had also both made the last three in each of the two previous years.

14-Year-Old And 16-Year-Old Gives Birth To Triplets
A teenager has given birth to triplets in Bungoma County, Daily Nation has reported.
Fourteen-year-old Mwanaharabu Wamukoya of Harambee village in Kakamega County, Kenya was admitted to Bungoma District Hospital on Saturday evening and had a Caesarean Section on Sunday to deliver the three baby boys.
Two of the new-borns weighed 1.5 kilogrammes while the third one weighed 1.3 kilogrammes.
Nursing officer-in-charge Mary Marumbu said the babies and their mother were in stable condition and ready to be discharged
The father of the babies, a 16-year-old boy, is said to have taken off on learning that the girl had given birth to triplets. The teen is also a school dropout and does menial jobs. The arrival of the triplets is said to have distressed him.
“He has no ability to take care of the babies even if he was here. We are grateful to the government for scrapping off maternity fees because I will be free to go home once discharged. I would have been detained here if I had been asked to pay,” the teenage mother said.

Scientists want to use lasers to make clouds, cause rain and control lightning
Lasers could soon be used to direct dangerous lightning away from sensitive areas, like airports.
A few weeks from now, scientists will be gathering in Geneva, Switzerland, at the second Conference on Laser, Weather and Climate, to discuss how they can use lasers to generate clouds, produce rain and control lightning strikes.
Controlling the weather has long been a dream for humankind, whether its to give us rain for parched crops or to prevent disastrous hurricanes and tornadoes. Attempts at weather control so far have mostly involved firing or dumping particles into the air, either to get clouds to form or to dissipate storm clouds before they can produce damaging hail, winds or even tornadoes. These attempts have had mixed success, and there is a growing concern about dumping these particles into the air, as they may have unknown effects on the environment. Lately, though, scientists have been turning to lasers, as a cleaner, easier and more high-tech option.
There has been plenty of research in recent years about using lasers to cause or direct lightning strikes. Lightning always takes the path of least resistance, but it has to create this path itself (by forming a trail of ionized air), and it doesn't always create that path to areas that are in our best interests. However, if you fire a powerful laser into a cloud, it can create that same kind of ionized trail, giving the charge in the cloud an artificial path to flow along, thus discharging the lightning safely. Researchers have found that you can even accomplish this while the lightning is in mid-strike.
The research into weather control through lasers doesn't end there, though.
Scientists have also found that extremely short bursts of laser light can cause water to condense out of the air, even in situations where conditions where clouds can't form on their own. The effect is so strong that it might even be able to produce rain if more continuous pulses are used.
Other experiments (so far conducted in cloud chambers) have shown that lasers can cause rapid formation of ice crystals in conditions that match where high cirrus clouds form in the atmosphere. Given that cirrus clouds are very effective at reflecting sunlight back into space, there is great potential to use this method to reduce the strength of thunderstorms and hurricanes, and possibly to help alleviate some of the effects of global warming while we ween ourselves off fossil fuels.
TECHNOLOGY: Japan to launch 'Internet fasting' camps for web addicted kids
WORLD TECHNOLOGY
A survey of more than 98,000 youngsters found that nearly 8.1 percent of the respondents were "pathologically" addicted to the Internet, and reported trouble sleeping and poor nutrition. Japan is planning to propose ‘Internet fasting camps’ in a bid to deal with more than half a million of the nation’s children who are addicted to the web, it has been revealed. The country’s government spokesman told The Daily Telegraph that they have estimated that the addiction affects around 518,000 children at middle and high schools across Japan, but the figure is rising. Zimbabwean charged for using Mugabe poster as toilet paper
No one should be foolish to present their backside to Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe – even if it is only a poster of the Zimbabwean ruler.
Takura Mufumisi, 28, found that out the hard way as he was arrested for allegedly destroying an election poster of the Zimbabwean ruler.
According to Newsday, the court was told: ""Mufumusi entered Landmark Bar in the city with the intention to relieve himself in the bar toilets.""
Upon discovering a lack of toilet paper, Mufumisi decided to use the only thing to hand: an election poster of Mugabe’s face.
However he was not able to relieve himself in peace. A fellow toilet-goer spotted him tearing up the poster in his attempts to fabricate makeshift toilet paper.
Pulling down election campaign posters is deemed a criminal offence and he has been accused violating electoral laws.
Osman Musengi, the Mugabe loyalist who spotted the act apprehended Mufumisi by citizen’s arrest, before dragging him to Masvingo Central Police Station.
Luckily for Mufumisi, the case has been adjourned indefinitely, due to a lack of witnesses.
This isn’t the first time Mugabe’s name has been mentioned in court recently. Presidential rival Morgan Tsvangirai was unsuccessful in his attempts to challenge Mugabe’s election win.
The 89-year-old won another five year term as Zimbabwe President adding to the 33 year rule he has had over the country.
Liverpool’s transfer hopes boosted for Victor Moses
Victor MosesLiverpool have been given a welcome boost to their chances of signing Chelsea’s Victor Moses on loan, reports the Daily Star.
Reports this week suggest Chelsea are close to a £3.5million deal for Porto winger Christian Atsu, leaving 22-year-old Moses even further down the Stamford Bridge pecking order.
And Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is now set to move for the former Wigan Athletic and Crystal Palace ace, with returning Blues boss Jose Mourinho willing to let him leave on loan for a £2million fee.
Liverpool had also been interested in signing Atsu, but will now settle for Moses as Rodgers attempts to build a squad he hopes will be strong enough to challenge for a top-four Premier League spot this season.
Moses’ first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge have grown slim since the summer arrivals of Kevin De Bruyne, Andre Schurrle and Willian, and it is thought he would welcome a move to Anfield to be reunited with former Chelsea teammate Daniel Sturridge.
Since joining Chelsea from Wigan at the beginning of last season, Moses has scored just one Premier League goal for the Blues, and managed a total of 10 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions.

FIFA receives complaint of racism against Keshi

ZURICH (AP) — FIFA has received a complaint of racism against Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi after he described a rival as "a white dude" who didn't know about Africa and who should go back to his native Belgium. FIFA declined to comment further Wednesday and only said it had received the complaint against Keshi, who led Nigeria to this year's African Cup of Nations title in South Africa. Malawi coach Tom Saintfiet said the Football Association of Malawi reported Keshi for comments apparently made on an African TV show, where Keshi said Saintfiet was "crazy" and "mad" for suggesting the southern Nigerian city of Calabar was unsafe for a World Cup qualifier between the countries next month. Keshi went on to say the Belgian "is not an African person, he is a white dude. He should go back to Belgium." Saintfiet said that if FIFA is serious about tackling racism in football, it has to "take it seriously in both directions." FIFA toughened its punishments for racism at its recent annual conference in Mauritius in May after incidents in England and Italy where black players were targeted, but a white coach accusing a black coach of racism is rare. "If a European said something of this nature about an African, you would have a huge problem. I am against racism in all directions," Saintfiet told the BBC. The Nigeria Football Federation did not immediately respond to requests for comment

UNBELIEVABLE...ALL NEW STUDENT FAILED UNIVERSITY ADMISSION TEST NO NEW STUDENT
Every single student who applied for admission into the University of Liberia failed the school’s admission test, and there were over 25,000 of them!
A university official said students who took the $25 exam did not have a basic understanding of English, the BBC reports, and it was the first time that all entrants failed.
Liberia’s President, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, has said the country’s education system is still “in a mess” following a civil war that ended a decade ago.
Education Minister Etmonia David-Tarpeh will meet with university officials to discuss the 100 percent failure rate, the BBC reports.
“I know there are a lot of weaknesses in the schools but for a whole group of people to take exams and every single one of them to fail, I have my doubts about that,” David-Tarpeh said. “It’s like mass murder.

Teenager's Mum: stow away teenager always dreamt of air travel
Stowaway-Daniel IhekinaFor Daniel Ohikhena, a Junior Secondary School (JSS) One pupil in Benin, the Edo State capital, his dream was to travel by air. He did it in a sensational way on Sunday. Daniel hid in the tyre compartment of an Arik Air flight from Benin to Lagos. He never told anyone about his passion to be on a plane, not even his mother. His only confidant was his younger brother who he always told that he would one day travel abroad on an aircraft. Last Saturday, Daniel attempted to realise his dream: he sneaked away from home to the Benin Airport. Undetected, the teenager got to the Arik plane. He grabbed one of the aircraft’s tyres, held on to it for the duration of the flight, apparently less than an hour. Like the Biblical Daniel, who escaped the lions’ fangs when he was thrown into their den, Daniel Ohikhuna survived the flight to the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Ikeja, Lagos. It was not until he was caught in Lagos under the Arik aircraft that the stowaway realised the risk he had taken. Following his arrest and his story in the news, security agencies went to Benin for his parents. They got his mother, Mrs Evelyn Ohikhena. She was quizzed yesterday at the Benin office of the Directorate of Security Services (DSS). Mrs Ohikhena addressed reporters yesterday after her interrogation. She said her sister, who lives in Germany, informed her about Daniel’s adventure. The mother of four, who lives at 6, Ehigiegba Street, off Goodwin Street in Benin, said she was still confused and in shock over the incident. She said: “When we started looking for him, his nine-year-old younger brother told me that anytime they were watching movies, Daniel always said he would take an aircraft to travel abroad. The boy asked me to check for Daniel at the airport. I did not believe him. “I left home on Friday to pass the night at my elder sister’s home. When I came back the following morning, my daughter told me that he and Daniel had an argument on Friday night. She said she did not find him around the following morning.” Mrs Ohikhena debunked the insinuation that the boy might have made his dangerous journey following an ill-treatment meted out to him at home. She said: “I did not maltreat him. I don’t even joke with my children’s education; I give them the best education. Everybody knows me. Ask of me at Oba Market (in Benin). The only thing that bothers me now is how my daughter will go to school, a Federal Government college.” Giving an insight into the teenager’s life, Mrs Ohikhena said: “Daniel does not have friends. He hardly leaves home. I don’t know where he was going in Lagos; we don’t have any relative in Lagos. I have never been to the airport. But I cannot deny the fact that he might have been to the airport when he was attending a private school, but I’m not aware of when this happened. “When I heard the news, I did not know what to do or say. I was very weak. Several people asked me to calm down. My only joy now is that he is alive; that is my happiness. I want the government to help me. I did not send him. I’m innocent.” DSS Director Bakori Tukur said the security agency invited the mother for questioning and not to arrest her since her son was already in custody.
